aha! found the banter

just wanted to post here to say unlucky to everyone when the mighty Swiss team ride high this year. have you seen the attention to detail they have with their watches? they will defiantly show up on time and for that i think they get extra points in the group stages...
to be homiest, unless Messi decides to become a Swiss national in the next 3 days these boys have got about as much chance of winning the world cup as the Irish do this year...

On a slightly more optimistic note i think the Serbs may get out of the group stages so we will see how they get on....yes, i am a "glass half full" kind of guy...

let the games begin

Is there a prize for the first team to be knocked out of the world cup too? A round of free bib washing perhaps Very Happy

That is a good point Stu, As long as people are happy with that but maybe we do it on a points based system, like the World Cup you get 3pts for a win, 1 for a draw and 0 for a loss, who ever's team has accrued the least points over the tounament for both their teams combined then washes the bibs.
Only thing is there are a couple of extra people who arent in the 14 and one who doesnt play at all, what do we do with these?

Below I have created all the tables, fixtures etc so people can keep an eye on who is beating who and who is where in the overall table, just for a bit of fun

What I also suggest just so that it is not just based on points on the games, you also have points for things like most goals in the group, cleansheets and have points taken off for red cards, most goals conceded etc

I Propose

Points For
Win - 3 Points
Draw - 1 Point
Most Goals In Group (Points Added At End Of Group Games) - 5 Points
Cleansheets - 2 Points

Points Taken Off For
Most Goals Conceded In Group (Points Added At End Of Group Games) - Minus 5 Points
Red Cards - Minus - 2 Points
Yellow Cards - Minus 1 Point

Any Problems with these (Just a suggestion to make things a bit interesting and give people who havent people who havent got a favourite a better chance)

Or I would like some input from people for for points etc

I have done this for the suggestion that Stu came up with about the washing of the bibs but have changed it slightly to make things a bit more interesting as we go along. I know the tournament is a knockout but if we have a league system type thing for the prize of maybe missing the bibs when it is your turn for finishing maybe 1st and 2nd and then an extra wash for those who finish 16th and 15th

If people are confused I will explain properly on Thursday, if you do understand it then good Very Happy

Dale, i applaud your dedication to statistics

i think the table should be kept to work out the "losers" but the winning money should go to 1st, 2nd and 3rd as per the actual knockout competition

This table is completely seperate from the winnings, that is still as it was as per the knockout tournament

1st place - £20
2nd place - £10
3rd place - £2

the table will be for the bibs, the winner will get a free wash and the loser will get an extra one
