Yeah, an extraordinarily shocking story to say the least!

Initial reports say Benoit appears to have killed his wife, then some 12 hours later killed his 7 year old son and then as much as a day later killed himself, never leaving the family home in the process. Wierd!

And if it does turn out that steroid abuse is a factor in the killings (the press are suggesting 'roid-rage'), I ask when are these professional wrestlers gonna learn? Confused

Steroid abuse within the sport in recent years has accounted for Eddie Guerrero, Mr. Perfect, the British Bulldog and 'Ravishing' Rick Rude to name a few.

I read that he strangled his wife with an alarm clock cord (possibly tied her up), suffocated his son with a plastic bag and placed bibles next to his body. He then hung himself from a pulley in his weights room.

I think, basically that because of the pressures put upon them to deliver high class performances in the ring in that they never allow their bodies to completely heal up. And a lot of wrestler do end up turning to the steroids, it's a tragic tale, I know.

Also, i read reports about there being needle marks on Chris Benoit's son, which has led them to believe that he injected the boy repeatedly with a kind of growth hormone, cos in Chris' eyes, he was too puny.

Wikipedia controversy
News of Nancy Benoit's death was inexplicably posted on Wikipedia 14 hours before the police discovered the bodies. This was initially reported on Wikinews and later on FOXNews.com. The original posting reads: “Chris Benoit was replaced by Johnny Nitro for the ECW Championship match at Vengeance, as Benoit was not there due to personal issues, stemming from the death of his wife Nancy.” The phrase "stemming from the death of his wife Nancy" was added to the English Wikipedia's "Chris Benoit" article at 12:01 a.m. EDT on June 25,[98][99] whereas the Fayette County police reportedly discovered the bodies of the Benoit family at 2:30 p.m. EDT (14 hours, 29 minutes later). The IP address of the editor was traced to Stamford, Connecticut, which is also the location of WWE headquarters.[100] However, the previous Wikipedia edit history suggests the post was made by an 18-year-old in Naugatuck, Connecticut [101]. After news of the early death notice reached mainstream media, the anonymous poster accessed Wikinews to explain his seemingly prescient comments as a "huge coincidence and nothing more".
