Post Post subject: Question 9: Do Fish sleep?
Why dont u ever see a fish sleep,I know they dont have eyelids to do so but there must be a logical explination on how they 'recharge' their batteries??(I have a fish tank besides me)

Ive been told they rest on the bottom of the water but still with no EYELIDS they must do something.

Oh and why doesnt no fish suffer from salt in their eyes in the sea?I could imagine that would be pretty uncomfortable....it is for me.

And talking about sleep,How does a bird sleep on a perch without falling off??

Not sure if the same applies with fish, but a dolphin's brain is split into two hemispheres which take it turns to sleep, so it can still operate whilst getting sleep.

It's true to say that fish don't have eyelids, or run on batteries come to that.
The reason you never see a fish sleep is because you don't stay up long enough! Fish sleep when you're not looking.
If you stayed up longer, you might catch them. Good luck!

Rest on the bottom of the water?! Shit on the bottom of the water, that's what they're doing the filthy bastards! Shocked

They do, but they quickly get used to it.
It's good preparation for when they're covered entirely in salt and served with a slice of lemon and some chips.

It's a bit different for Dolphins as they are mammals of course, not fish.

Interesting fact though, I enjoyed it!
