Post Post subject: Question 1: "Kill Bill Theme"
My question...

Does the wise Greg know the true origin of the tune used largely in Tarantino's Kill Bill saga where the Bride would lock on with one of her 'targets'? You know the one - it kinda goes WAH! - NAW! - WAH! - NAW! - WAH! - NAW! DA DA DA, DA DA DAAAAAAA!

Oh please wise Greg, speak true and find an answer to my anomaly! Confused

Thanks for your question therealjoebloggs.

As you quite rightly suggested to me the other night, that piece of music comes from "Ironside", the US cop drama of the 60's and 70's.
I had to double-check this valuable fact with my Nan!

"Ironside" of course starred Raymond Burr (TV's Perry Mason!) as Robert T. Ironside, Chief of Detectives at the San Francisco PD who is shot by a sniper whilst on vacation, leaving him paralysed.
But this doesn't stop him wheeling around solving cases and talking to nonces REALLY LOUDLY!

When 'Ask Greg' was a young man, Ironside would be broadcast on Sunday afternoons. It was crap!

Another little fact was that this music was composed by Quincy Jones who went on to produce Michael Jackson's Thriller album in the Eighties, which is still the biggest selling album of all time.

I'm sure if we could get hold of some Kill Bill DVD extras, we'd find out why Tarantino chose this particular piece.

'Ask Greg' is working on it.

On the comments on that YouTube video the following was posted:

"the theme music was used in the movie kill bill"

TheWuCepticon3 (2 months ago)
"Actually, it was used in the Shaw Brothers' kung-fu classic "Five Fingers Of Death" first. Then, Tarantino used it in "Kill Bill", as homage to the "Five Fingers..." usage."

That could be the question answered from an unofficial source. Wink
