Post Post subject: Mercury Madness
Well its that time again where we hear about a bunch of bands and artists we've never heard before who have been shortlisted for the Nationwide Mercury Music Prize for 2007. Of course, this prestigious award is for the best album of the year out of a host of eclectic masterpieces. Last year the Artic Monkeys won it with their debut album Whatever People Say I Am, Thats What I'm Not. Their new album,Favourite Worst Nightmare is shortlisted this year too.

So here's the shortlist, who is going to win it this year?

Arctic Monkeys - Favourite Worst Nightmare
Dizzee Rascal - Maths and English
The View - Hats Off to the Buskers
Maps - We Can Create
Bat For Lashes - Fur and Gold
Klaxons - Myths of the Near Future
Jamie T - Panic Prevention
The Young Knives - Voices of Animals and Men
Fionn Regan - The End of History
Basquiat Strings with Seb Rochford - Basquiat Strings
Amy Winehouse - Back to Black
New Young Pony Club - Fantastic Playroom

My money is on one of the big hitters and I'm thinking Amy Winehouse will nab it this year. Personally I would love either The Young Knives or the Artic Monkeys to get it, as both their albums are great. Even The View as a rank outsider I would not be too disaapointed with.

Good call that man!

Not a Klaxons fan but I guess they have taken the UK indie scene by storm and deserve some kind of acclaim.
